Synopsis
A lonely scholar on a trip to Istanbul for a conference discovers a Djinn, who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
What we did
Filmed across Sydney and Istanbul, the visually arresting film is richly peppered with mystical and historical fantasy sequences and elaborate narrative weaving, relying heavily on VFX to actualise the intricate worlds within the stories.
Stage23 delivered a diverse range of photoreal VFX shots including CG takeovers, digital matte painting, set extensions and compositing. As the central character of the Djinn is a mythical, morphing figure, VFX was central to activating his altered and ebbing states which demanded vapour trails, physical disintegration and bottle immersions.
The resonant closing shot of the film, featuring a magical bouncing soccer ball on Primrose Hill was also delivered by Stage23.
