Synopsis
Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance.
What we did
Stage23 crafted pivotal sequences for Marza Animation Planets’ third instalment of the iconic Sonic film. The team designed and built fully digital photorealistic environments to place the Sonic characters in, including detailed work on a giant smoking crater.
Stage23’s Head of Lighting Matt Sato-Smith led the team delivering pivotal shots, teasers and key new character development across a demanding time schedule.
Highlights of Stage23’s delivery included the post credit sequence which includes the introduction of new character Metal Sonic in a teaser for the upcoming Sonic 4.
The project was a full circle creative moment for Matt who served as the senior lighting artist for the first Sonic movie when working for Marza in Japan.
